For the better part of a century, the Imperial Eugenics Society has carried out research on reproduction to create more desirable characteristics in humanity. The society was founded by a group of nobles who had an interest in the traits of mixed race offspring. As they have observed with domesticated animals, they reasoned they could breed certain races together to get more desirable traits (especially in their female servants), such as the natural submissiveness of the east asian woman, or the hardiness of the african, the passion of the mezito, and many others. In addition to these traits, they also reasoned that they could also affect physical beauty and have unique beauty features not found among other races. Different types of hair, skin tones, eye color, and all mix to create an exotic person, unique and ready to serve.
The Imperial Eugenics Society runs several institutes that arrange breeding and can even raise the children until they are old enough. Most nobles who can afford the fees that the institutes charge send illegitimate daughters, for impregnation to get a mixed race child. They may also send information about their servants and allow the institute to pick which servants would produce the best results. Nobles may also visit and impregnate a woman at the institute. The resulting children are not like the accidental children that come from random couplings with domestics or other women. Everything is carefully prepared, with full genetic records to try and produce the most exceptional results. Customers may even choose which races they prefer to mix, such as african and european, or african and east asian, or arab and african, or any combination thereof, and other features are also attempted (such as larger breasts, or fuller lips, or overall body type).
\While the institutes boast a large percentage rate of success and customer satisfaction, it also realizes that it is not possible for every attempt to be a resounding success. Therefore contracts specify the number of attempts to create a mixed race servant. The customer, for example, may negotiate for three attempts to create the child, and pays for the attempts, whether or not there is a success on the first attempt, or not until the third. When the girls reach the appropriate age, they return to their masters home, very often as concubines, or at the very least as new domestics. Any girls born that are not satisfactory may still be retained by the customer, or left at the institute to do with as they see fit. Most often they may become new breeding stock or sold to any potential buyer.
